This leather magnet is modeled after beloved Tottori folk toy shop Yanagiya’s Ao Hanatare mask. The Ao Hanatare (literally green runny nose), is a shinto spirit performed during the Gongen festivals of the feudal era. Gongen festivals were part of an effort to harmonize Buddhism and local religious practice. On the day of the festival, the person performing the Ao Hanatare could freely say any bad words they wished for that day.
