Launched in 2021 by the Tottori-based studio HYO DESIGN, "PLAY." is a lifestyle brand born from a simple yet profound philosophy: to cherish the spirit of play.
The brand is led by designer Takashi Shiraoka, a graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts whose work has garnered international acclaim, including the prestigious iF Design Award. For Shiraoka, there is no boundary between "ON" and "OFF"—life itself is an act of play. By capturing the excitement and ideas found in everyday moments, he creates objects that spark a sense of discovery and inspiration in those who use them.
Seamless Movement
The core theme of PLAY. is "portable tools"—furniture that bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor spaces. Their debut product, the Oak Roll Table, embodies this vision. Crafted from solid oak, it is designed to be carried effortlessly from the comfort of a living room to the rugged beauty of a campsite. By making furniture mobile, PLAY. dissolves the boundaries of traditional living, inviting a more flexible and liberated lifestyle.
