Founded in 1596, Tazen is one of the oldest companies in Sendai and although going through changes adjusting to the demands of times, it has consistently passed down the techniques of copper since its foundation. In recent years, led by Zen Tanaka, this 420-year-old company is reinventing its copper tradition, teaming up with local creative minds and characteristic restaurants, seeking further possibilities for traditional copperware in contemporary society.

Copper Plate

Developed in collaboration with Oshinsha, this copper plate's simple design is one anyone can enjoy. As they are made by hand, no two items are the same. The material's unique texture and the patterns of each individual piece can be appreciated across plates both of the same and different processing methods.

Copper Sakazuri

Tazen's latest creation is this copper sakazuki, or sake cup. Not only is its design simple and elegant, but each piece is unique as they are all handmade.
